The quality of household water is directly related to the health of each person. How to judge the quality of water quality at home is also the best skill to master. To do this, we should first understand which indicators in the water can help us have a general assessment of the water quality of the home. Next, What are the indicators for home water quality testing? IFAN will introduce it to you.
To keep the water quality in your home from deteriorating, the key is to choose the right water pipe. What Are The Indicators For Home Water Quality Testing?
TDS Value
TDS is total dissolved solids, which indicates how many milligrams of dissolved solids are dissolved in 1 liter of water. The higher the TDS value, the more impurities are contained in the water. The impurities usually refer to the concentration of Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, and K+ plasma in the water, and cannot be It directly indicates the quality of water quality.
When we test the TDS of water, first open the probe cover of the TDS pen, and press the button marked with the switch, after the LCD screen displays, insert the TDS pen into the water to be tested, after the value is stable, press the button marked HOLD, take The TDS pen can read the value. After the test, wipe the TDS pen probe clean with dry paper.
Generally, the measured value of tap water is between 260-600. If the value exceeds 600, it is polluted water.
Water Purity
Water also has purity, often measured by its salt content and resistivity, so we use electrolyzers to measure water purity.
Put the two sets of iron-aluminum rods of the electrolyzer into two containers with water, the water level is close to the root of the iron-aluminum rod, then plug in the power supply, and finally press the switch. The electrolysis time is 15-60 seconds, be careful not to burn the circuit. Then analyze the content of impurities in the water according to the color change of the water. After electrolysis, clean the iron rod in time.
After electrolysis, if the water is black, it means that the water contains heavy metals; if it is white, it means that the water contains lead, zinc, and other substances; if it is red, it means that the water contains monovalent mercury and ferric iron; if it is blue If the water is green, it means that the water contains arsenic and other substances; if it is yellow, it means that the water contains organic minerals such as dissolved oxygen.
However, the purer the water is, the better. The human body still needs some minerals. Drinking pure water for a long time will take away the existing minerals and trace elements in the human body due to the difference in concentration, resulting in the loss of calcium and trace elements.
The Content of Residual Chlorine
Tap water disinfects with chlorine in waterworks, and residual chlorine refers to the effective chlorine remaining in the water after chlorination disinfection and contact for a certain period of time.
You can use a purchased residual chlorine reagent and drop it into the prepared water for detection. Generally, take 10ml of tap water, drop 1-2 drops of residual chlorine reagent into the water, and let it stand for about 10 minutes. The more yellow the water becomes, the higher the residual chlorine content in the water.
PH of Water
If you want to detect the pH in water, you need to drop 1-2 drops of purple litmus solution into 10ml of water, shake it evenly, and watch its color, the redder the acidity is, the more purple the alkalinity is.
At present, there is no conclusion whether acidic water or alkaline water is good. Drinking one of them often is harmful to the human body. There is no need to insist that alkaline water or acidic water is actually good. As long as the pH is not too high, it will be fine.
Mineral Content
You can use a mineral detection pen to test the mineral content in the water. When using it, press the switch button first, put it into the water to the water level line, and judge the mineral content in the water according to the green light on it.
It is worth noting that a mineral detection pen is divided into high-grade and low-grade. When testing, the button should be dialed to the low grade first, and then the number on the left side of the detection pen should be read out after putting it in the water. If the red light is on, it means that the minerals in the water exceed 40 ppm, then you should turn the button to high and read the number on the right.
The mineral content in tap water is generally 70-200 and stipulates that it cannot exceed 450. If it exceeds this range, it means that the mineral content in the water is too high. In addition to being not good for the body, it can easily lead to life problems such as kettle scaling.
